Joseph + Michelle // Darlington House // La Jolla, CA Wedding
This is a special film for a couple dear to our hearts. This weekend we had the honor of producing a Same Day Premiere wedding film for one of Jason’s closest friends. Joe was one of Jason’s former roommates and a groomsman in our wedding!
As we set up our projector at the end of the night, Joe and Michelle had NO idea it was for debuting their wedding film! We always love when we have the element of surprise, but what made it even better was watching them overcome with emotion as moments from the day unfolded, even moments that just happened.
CHECK OUT THEIR EMOTIONAL REACTION!
We feel like everyone needs a friend like Joe. He is the life of every party, has untouchable charisma, and charges the room with an uplifting and positive energy. We always joke that Joe is at 300%. When he is present, he is there for you 300%. When he dislikes something, he dislikes it 300%. When he loves something, he loves it 300%. It is no surprise to us that when he found his bride, he would have all the love in the world and more to offer her.
Michelle was a mutual acquaintance of ours before her and Joe were a couple. Jason was even living with Joe when they had their first date! The chemistry that was set in motion that day, resulted in a long distance romance that stood the test of time, Michelle graduating from nursing school, long plane flights, and many sad goodbyes. We couldn't have imagined a more perfect counterpart for Joe than Michelle's gentle and sweet personality. Joe calls her "Belle," and it isn't hard to see why. She was one of the most naturally gorgeous brides we have ever seen! We were both touched to be so included on their big day.
We met Michelle and her bridesmaids at the Inn By The Sea in La Jolla to document some "girl time" and film her makeup and hair preparation by Kristin Noelle Wait. After travelling to The Darlington House, we found the quaint upstairs suite offered the most angelic white light for Michelle to get into her stunning Allure Bridals gown. We also adored their intimate first look under the courtyard's picturesque lemon tree. Those few quiet moments together were so sweet to witness. The ceremony and reception site looked flawless adorned in sprawling arrangements of eucalyptus, pale roses, and giant deep red ranunculus from Craft Blooms- providing the perfect setting for their elegant cake from Edelweisse Bakery.
Please enjoy their gorgeous wedding photos by the amazingly talented Charissa Magno. We just cannot get over how beautiful these images are!
Jason was excited to have the double privilege of being both groomsman and videographer, although we knew that in order to make that happen, we needed to call in a dream team of fellow vendors. We were fortunate to work with some of our absolute favorite people, not just professionally, but in general! We made a personal recommendation to Joseph and Michelle to trust their day to Suher Haidar. We knew they could rest easy and know their day would run smoothly and every detail would be in place.
Secondly, we are always able to produce our best work when we shoot along side our favorite photographers. We were so relieved the couple chose Pat and Charissa of Charissa Magno Photography to capture their day! It never feels like work when we shoot together. They have the absolute best way of bringing a comforting presence while catching every special moment of the day! Lastly, but definitely not least, given that one of us was in the bridal party and the other would need to hide away and edit after the ceremony - we knew we needed an additional shooter of the highest caliber. There was only one person for this job in our mind. We were able to start our careers working with Thomas O’Hara, and by doing so had the opportunity to learn from one of the best cinematographers in the industry. We had that extra boost of confidence knowing such a close friend and mentor was helping to make this film possible.
Seeing Joe so emotional throughout the day really showed us how much he loves Michelle, truly treasures her, and what it means to him that he finally found his one and only. He was lucky enough to marry his first serious girlfriend, and more importantly- his last. We are both so happy for them, and so excited to have played a part in their wedding day happiness!
